The Holidays in Hood River

Holiday time in Hood River is really quite magical—that’s why it’s known as the Holiday Town of Oregon. From Thanksgiving through Christmas, the festive lighting of downtown creates a wonderful holiday atmosphere. You know—that cozy, small-town feeling that makes the holidays so special.

Here are 5 of my favorite reasons to be in Hood River during the holiday season:

  1. Thanksgiving Weekend (Nov. 22-25)—From shopping, to Santa, to the Gorge wineries open-house weekend, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

  2. Holiday Kick-Off Party (Nov. 30)—This annual event includes a parade through downtown, the lighting of our 30’ holiday tree, professional carolers, cocoa and cookies for everyone, and of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus.

  3. The Polar Express™ (Nov. & Dec.)—Hop onboard the Mt Hood Railroad for the Polar Express train ride—don’t forget to wear your pajamas!

  4. A Christmas Carol (Dec 8 & 9)—Let the actors of the Columbia Gorge Art Center entertain the entire family with the Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol.”

  5. It’s the Gorge!Snow-capped mountains, the dynamic skies along the river, great food, excellent wine and beer, unique shopping, skiing, or just relaxing with a book in front of a cozy fire.

See you soon! Kerry
